About Us

David Parry

I’ve always believed that every painting holds a world within it, an untold story, a hidden meaning, an invitation to step into a different reality.
My work as an artist has evolved over five decades, shaped by curiosity, experience, and a lifelong commitment to creativity. While art was always part of me, it lived alongside a global career in business consulting, where I worked across 47 countries and some of the world’s most complex industries. During those years, painting became my quiet companion, an outlet for reflection, escape, and insight.
My style blends detailed watercolour and airbrush techniques with surrealist imagination, drawing on memory, spirituality, and lived experience. Many of my pieces are born from mountain walks, world events, and deeply personal moments. They often take months, sometimes years, to complete, each layer a meditation on meaning. Now, in what I call my “Third Age,” I’ve chosen to bring this private world into the light. Beyond Canvas ‘A Visual Memoir in Watercolour and Light’ is both a culmination and a beginning: a body of work that spans decades, emotions, and the stories that connect us all.

A Lifetime Beyond Canvas

“I believe that every painting has a world within it—an untold story, a hidden meaning, or an invitation to step into a different reality.”

“I aim to create artwork that sparks the imagination and invites viewers to explore beyond the canvas.”

Jessica Parry

My work as a designer and Artist is grounded in a simple belief: the spaces we inhabit shape the way we feel, think, and connect. Whether I’m creating a physical environment or an image on paper, I strive to evoke a sense of harmony and meaning, spaces and compositions that are not only functional but also emotionally resonant. To me, design is more than aesthetics; it’s about crafting experiences that reflect the individuality of the people who live and work within them.

Growing up in a creative household, with a mother in graphic design and a father who painted throughout his career, instilled in me an appreciation for both artistry and detail. This foundation inspired my interest in interior design, a discipline that requires a blend of technical knowledge, creativity, and empathy. I’m fascinated by the complexity of this work: interpreting a client’s vision, balancing light, materials, and form, and ensuring every element serves a greater purpose. Sustainability is integral to my approach because great design should also be responsible and enduring.

While my practice today focuses on interior design, my roots in fine art continue to influence my perspective. Early experiments with watercolour, ink, and printmaking taught me the value of process, patience, and expression. That artistic sensibility remains central to my work, informing how I think about space, colour, and human experience. Design, to me, is the intersection of function and feeling, a way to transform the ordinary into something memorable and meaningful.

Artist & Designer

My work as a designer and artist explores how people experience space, emotionally, visually, and symbolically, whether it’s a room, a page, or a moment in time

A Visual Memoir in Watercolour and Light

David Parry is a surrealist artist with a unique voice forged through a lifetime of personal exploration, global experience, and artistic devotion. His paintings—created over five decades using detailed watercolour and airbrush techniques—offer not only visual beauty but profound emotional resonance. Each piece is a doorway to memory, meaning, and a deeply personal yet universally accessible narrative.
From early recognition as a talented young artist, David’s creative path was shaped by both necessity and curiosity. While art was always present, it ran parallel to a global career in business consulting, where he worked across 47 countries and helped transform companies in some of the world’s most complex industries. During this time, painting became his quiet companion—an outlet for reflection, escape, and insight.
His work draws from memory, spirituality, and lived experience, often sparked by mountain walks or world events, and rendered through a surrealist lens. The layering of symbolism, emotional depth, and almost meditative detail defines his style—quiet, contemplative, and deeply human. His process, like his journey, is detailed and intentional: some pieces take years, returning to the canvas like old friends.
Now entering what he calls his “Third Age,” David has chosen to bring his private world of art into the light. Beyond Canvas – A Visual Memoir in Watercolour and Light is both a culmination and a beginning: a body of work that spans decades and emotions, and includes a final chapter of visual work by his daughter Jessica—extending the creative legacy into the next generation.
